Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how FoodVault ("FoodVault", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares your personal information when you visit or shop with us at foodvault.com.au or foodvault.shop (together, the "Site"), or otherwise contact us (together, the "Services"). "You" means anyone whose personal information we collect, whether you are a customer, a visitor to the Site or someone who gets in touch with us.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Services, you agree to the collection, use and sharing of your information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Who We Are
FoodVault is an Australian business that sells food storage products to customers worldwide. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions about your privacy, please email us at hi@foodvault.com.au.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will post the updated policy on the Site, change the "Last updated" date above and take any other steps required by law.
What Personal Information We Collect
"Personal information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes or can reasonably be linked to you. What we collect depends on how you use the Services.
Information you give us
- Contact details, such as your name, address, phone number and email address.
- Order information, such as your name, billing address, shipping address, payment confirmation, email address and phone number.
- Account information, such as your username, password and other details used to keep your account secure.
- Customer support information, such as your order number and anything else you choose to include when you contact us through our contact form, by email or through other channels.
- Reviews. If you leave a product review, we collect your name, star rating, written review and any photos you upload. Reviews are published on the Site and can be seen by other visitors, so please don't include anything you would prefer to keep private.
- Marketing preferences. If you sign up for our emails or text messages (for example, to receive a discount code), we collect your email address and/or mobile number and a record of your consent.
Some features of the Services need certain information to work. You can choose not to provide it, but you may not be able to use those features.
Information we collect automatically
When you use the Services, we and the providers we work with automatically collect information about your visit ("Usage Data") using cookies, pixels and similar technologies ("Cookies"). Usage Data can include details about your device and browser, your network connection, your IP address, the pages you view, the links you click and how you interact with our emails and ads.
Information from third parties
We may also receive information about you from the companies that help us run the Services, such as Shopify, our payment providers and our marketing and advertising partners. Any information we receive from third parties is handled in line with this Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Personal Information
- To provide our products and Services, including processing payments, fulfilling and shipping orders, managing your account, handling returns and exchanges, and sending you messages about your orders and account.
- To help you, including answering your questions and resolving any issues with your order.
- To publish reviews, so other customers can read about real experiences with our products.
- For marketing and advertising, such as sending you emails or texts you have signed up for and showing you ads for our products on other websites and social media. You can opt out of marketing at any time (see "Your Rights" below).
- To keep the Services safe, including detecting and preventing fraud and other harmful activity. If you have an account, please keep your login details private, and contact us straight away if you think your account has been compromised.
- To improve the Services, including understanding how people use the Site so we can make it better.
- To meet our legal obligations, enforce our terms and protect our rights and the rights of our customers and others.
Who We Share Your Personal Information With
We share personal information only where it is needed to run our business and provide the Services. This includes:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout, including Shop Pay. Shopify handles your information in line with its own Privacy Policy and Consumer Privacy Policy.
- Payment providers, including Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay, to process your payment. We do not store your full card details. If you choose to pay with Afterpay, Afterpay collects information from you directly to check your eligibility and handles it under its own privacy policy.
- Fulfilment partners and couriers, who receive your name, delivery address and contact details so they can pack, ship and track your order.
- Klaviyo, which we use to send emails and text messages and to run our sign-up forms.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and other advertising and analytics partners, which use Cookies and pixels to help us measure our ads and show relevant ads to you and to people like you.
- Our product reviews provider, which collects and displays reviews on the Site.
- Other service providers who help us run the business, such as IT, cloud storage, customer support and upsell tools.
- Others when required or permitted by law, for example to respond to a lawful request, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a business sale, restructure or merger.
- Anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where you otherwise give your consent.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some laws treat sharing information with advertising partners for targeted ads as a "sale" or "sharing"; you can opt out of this as described under "Your Rights".
The categories of personal information we share for the purposes above are:

We do not use or share sensitive personal information without your consent, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you.
Cookies
Like most websites, we use Cookies to run the Site, remember your preferences and cart, understand how visitors use the Site and measure and personalise our advertising. For details of the Cookies used to power our Shopify store, see https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies. We also allow our advertising and analytics partners to place Cookies on the Site.
Where available, you can choose which Cookies you accept using the cookie banner on the Site. You can also set your browser to block or delete Cookies. Blocking some Cookies may stop parts of the Site from working properly, and it may not fully stop us from sharing information with our advertising partners.
Third-Party Websites and Links
The Site may link to websites and platforms run by other companies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies before sharing information with them. Anything you post publicly, including on social media, may be seen and used by others.
Children's Data
The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell" (as those terms are defined in applicable law) the personal information of anyone under 16.
Security and Retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee perfect security. Information you send to us may not be secure while in transit, so please don't send sensitive information through insecure channels.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it, for example to provide the Services, maintain your account, meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. These rights are not absolute, and in some cases we may decline a request where the law allows.
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and how we use and share it.
- Correction: ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information.
- Portability: ask for a copy of your information in a usable format, or ask us to transfer it to someone else.
- Restriction and objection: ask us to limit or stop using your personal information, including for targeted advertising.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Opt out of marketing: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or reply STOP to any marketing text. We may still send you messages about your orders or account.
- Appeal: if we decline your request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.
To make a request, email us at hi@foodvault.com.au. We may need to verify your identity first. You can also ask someone else to make a request on your behalf, but we will need proof that you have authorised them. We will respond within the time required by law, and we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, please email us first at hi@foodvault.com.au so we can try to fix it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to your local privacy regulator, for example the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand (privacy.org.nz), the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
International Transfers
We sell to customers in several countries, and the companies that help us run the Services are based around the world. This means your personal information may be stored and processed outside the country you live in, including in Australia, the United States, Canada and countries in Asia where our fulfilment partners operate.
Where we transfer personal information out of the UK or Europe, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK equivalent, unless the destination country has been recognised as providing an adequate level of protection.
Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal information, or you would like to exercise any of your rights, please email us at hi@foodvault.com.au.
